Merck Schuchardt OHG

Merck Schuchardt OHG in Hohenbrunn, Germany, located 15 km south of Munich, is a subsidiary of Merck KGaA. With its current workforce of around 100 men and women, Merck Schuchardt is one of the largest companies in Hohenbrunn.
Merck Schuchardt’s roots date back to the 17th century. That was when Dr. Theodor Schuchardt founded a chemical factory in Görlitz (eastern Germany). After the Second World War, his successor rebuilt the factory in Hohenbrunn near Munich. In 1972, Merck acquired the company in full. Today, Merck Schuchardt is part of the Performance & Life Science Chemicals division.
The largest Chemicals division focuses on three business fields: The Laboratory Business offers high-grade, reagents and test kits for industry, research laboratories and mobile analysis.
Life Science Solutions is one of the most important partners to research-based pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the life sciences sector, providing them with products and service for the entire drug development and manufacturing process chain. The activities of Schuchardt OHG belong to this business field, which also supplies raw materials and active ingredients to the cosmetics industry.
The Pigments business is a leading global supplier of effect pigments for decorative and functional applications, e.g. with the Iriodin® and Xirallic® brands as well as with Ronastar® and Ronasphere® for the cosmetic pigments sector.
All the functions necessary to run the business are located at the site. Our departments collaborate closely with the relevant expert departments at headquarters in Darmstadt. Every year, we ship around 2000 metric tons of chemicals in more than half a million packs directly from Hohenbrunn: Customers in Germany, other European countries and the rest of the world each account for approximately one-third of the shipments.
